So Nintendo isn't big gaming? Makes sense really. Since they actually make games.
History is repeating itself, the gaming industry will become a monopolistic just like the film, TV, book and music industry. No competition or decentralization.
Ubisoft and Sony has mostly created their own studios and purchased a few studios but since the late 2010s, Microsoft, Tencent and Embracer Group have been in a buying spree, acquiring medium to big size game publishers and developers. EA did the same thing in the 2000s and 2010s, except they butchered the subsidiaries for the IPs and money like Pop Cap.
In the film/tv industry there are mostly the top 6 big corporations, most of them American, Sony, Disney, Fox, WarnerDiscovery, CBSViacom, and NBCUniversal. They may look like competitors, but they all share common interests. Back in the 1980s, there were at least 50 corporations.
Before the 2000s, the film/TV industry was decentalized and more competitive. But most of the major and mini-major studios acquired and merged with the other studios including indie ones
American TV (can't speak for other countries' TV market) was decentalized before acquisitions and merges. Most of the big six owns these 300+ channels, so it's basically close to a monopoly. Heck, Japan has more decentralization than the Americans.
Their are Globo-wannabes like AMC and Netflix and puppet companies, but there are only a few true indie film studios and companies.
Same thing with the book industry, Penguin-Random House, HarperCollins (Fox), Simon & Schuster (CBSViacom), and Scholastic.
And the music industry, Sony, Universal and Warner.
Right now the same thing is happening to the gaming industry, it used to be one of the most decentralized industries but now after all of these mergers and acquisitions it almost look like a monopoly.
So far the top gaming publishers are Microsoft (Xbox), Sony (PlayStation), Embracer Group (THQNordic), Take2 (R★-2K), Ubisoft, and Tecent (CCP).
Money is a weapon, especially the U.S. dollar, but soon the dollar will become useless.
We need more independent and decentralized industries not monopolies. Invest in the parallel economy.
Resist the dollar (or yuan). They'll be useless anyway.
