In this tutorial we will show you how to play Blu-ray games and enabling Blu-ray Java content on your personal computer.
You can play DRM-Free Blu-ray discs and ISO files on your PC, but you want to enable the cool BD-J/Java menu capabilities. Most commercial Blu-Ray is protected by AACS or BD+ DRM technologies and are not compatible with playback of those discs. And a potato computer can easily run Blu-ray with BD-J enabled.
1. Download the latest version of VLC media player, a free and open-source media player that plays all sorts of multi-media video-audio codecs. It's for Windows, Linux, Macintosh, Chrome OS and other systems.
2. Java is required to run BDJ content. You might already have downloaded Java in your computer but every time you run BDJ content it crashes. It's recommended that you download Liberica JDK 12 64 bit to enable BDJ content.
Windows Download Bellsoft JDK Version 12.0 for Windows
VLC Forum Blu Ray playback crashes VLC, only if menus enabled
3. Unzip the downloaded JDK folder.
4. Create a new folder in "Program Folders" and name it "Java".
5. Place the unzipped JDK folder to "Java" folder.
6. Copy the folder address, C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-12\bin
7. Go to "Settings", then go to "Advanced System Settings" and click "Environment Variables".
8. You're going to create a new system variable for your PC. At "Environment Variables" at the "System Variables" (at the bottom), click "Path", then click "Edit" after that click "New" and paste the folder address. Move the address path on the very top by click "Move Up" and finally press "Okay".
9. Your to create another system variable called "JAVA_HOME". Click "New" , type in variable name as "JAVA_HOME", then paste the address path again to "Variable value", but erase the "bin".
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-12
Press okay and you should be done with the Java part. If you are still having trouble with installing Java watch this tutorial.
Now your ready to play your Blu-ray disc or ISO files with BDJ content.
10. On VLC, make sure you enable BDJ by going to Advanced Preferences and checkmark "Blu-ray menus"
11. Finally insert your DRM-Free Blu-ray disc or open your BD ISO file, and you finally can play BDJ content and games.
Just to let you know, Blu-ray is a 2D (and 2.5D) platform when it comes to games. Games with 3D graphics such a Doom won't be able to pay on VLC or certain BD players, because of very slow frame rates. VLC wasn't originally designed for that, so if you want to play Blu-ray games or demos with 3D "graphics" you must have a BD player that can like the PlayStation consoles for example.
But overall that's the tutorial on how to play Blu-ray files with Java enabled.
