๐Ÿ” The Chicken That Adored Literature

Wait! Chickens can read?

There once was a chicken named Daisy that loved nothing more than to read and write. Ever since she was taught by her mother it was all she ever did, despite her father's disapproval. You see Daisy's father as well as the whole town believed in the old ways of doing things. They felt that female chickens didn't have any need for skills like reading and writing simply because he believed that their only job was to lay eggs. Teaching reading and writing to female chickens wasn't outlawed it was just frowned upon. So most female chickens just gave up.

Now you might be thinking to yourself why would Mama Daisy stay with her husband if he thinks this way? Well, the answer is simple. She's there for Daisy. In the beginning, Daisy's father seemed like the perfect gentleman but eventually, his mask came off and he revealed how he really felt. Mama Daisy was going to leave, but Rufus purposely pulled his mask off after he'd already impregnated her. Daisy refused to allow this child to be raised by Rufus' ideals so she decided to stay.

One day, a light bulb lit up in Daisy's head. By this point, she'd read tons of books and written plenty of things, but not once had she written or read anything that was pleasing to the ears in the same way that music was. She promptly began drafting her idea down, working the entire day until it was complete. That night she had finished and she was so proud that she just had to share it with her mom.

Daisy rose from the kitchen to find her mom, but there was no need. Her mom was already in the kitchen, breathing heavily while holding all of Daisy's books. "There's no time to talk Daisy", Mama said "We have to leave right now."

Daisy was still on a high because of work being done so she didn't even realize the urgency of the situation. She kept insisting that her mom listens to what she wrote.

"DAISY OUTSIDE NOW!", screamed Mama while she shoved her daughter out the front door. They were halfway up the road when they heard screams behind them. It was Rufus and he was screaming bloody murder trying to wake everyone up to stop Mama and Daisy. Mama had tried to kill Rufus but was unsuccessful.

Rufus on the other hand was successful in alerting everyone. It wasn't long before everyone was coming out of their homes to see what was going on. Mama Daisy knew that there was no way she was getting away now especially not while she had Daisy. So, she quickly told Daisy to keep running straight because Mama knew that there was a town about a mile up the road. Daisy refused to leave at first but her mother pleaded with tears in her eyes that she just followed her directions. Reluctantly, Daisy, still clutching her day's work, began to run down the road sobbing.

Daisy didn't get far up the road before she stopped in her tracks. Her gut was practically screaming at her to go back and save her mother, but she didn't know how. Mama had been the one to teach her reading and writing, the thing she loved with all of her heart. Mama didn't care about the weird looks, the rude comments from other roosters, or that she had to stay with an awful rooster like Rufus. There was no way she could just leave her behind. Daisy began to think hard about what she could do to save her mom and after a few seconds, she had an idea.

Rufus and every other rooster in town were in the process of deciding what to do with Mama. Never before had a hen attacked a rooster and tried to run off with the chick at least not in this town. While discussions were happening, Rufus heard footsteps moving very fast toward them. He looked up and laid eyes on his daughter. She had a fire in her eyes. Rufus said nothing and began to walk toward his daughter. Everyone was completely silent.

Without a word, Daisy began to read what she had spent all day writing. She delivered the words with such elegance and grace that she drove everyone that was around to hear her to tears. It was the most beautiful thing they'd ever heard. Daisy's words were so powerful that everyone could practically feel the emotion behind every line.

Daisy was finally done reciting what she wrote, she stood before the crowd panting waiting for them to say something. After a few seconds, applause broke out. They began cheering and hugging Daisy. Daisy had done it. She'd saved her mother and on top of that successfully elevated every rooster's mind. Everyone had the same burning question on their mind, everyone except Mama. "She wrote it all by herself.", Mama explained. The roosters were stunned, they had to know what it was called. This was never before seen and needed to be shared with the world as a template to create new writings. Daisy sat and thought for a while before a huge grin came across her face.

"I think I'll call it... poultry."
